- How does UV tracking work? Soluvit uses Apple WeatherKit to fetch real-time UV index data for your current location. It estimates safe sun exposure time based on your skin type, clothing, and sunscreen settings.
- How accurate is the vitamin D estimate? Vitamin D synthesis estimates are based on published research models that account for UV intensity, skin type, exposed body area, and sunscreen use. These are wellness estimates and should not replace medical advice.
- Why does the app need my location? Location is used to retrieve UV index, weather conditions, and sunrise/sunset times for your area. Soluvit uses "When In Use" location access only.
- How do I connect Apple Health? When you first save a sun session, Soluvit will request HealthKit permissions. You can also manage these in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Soluvit.
- What data does Soluvit store? All personal data (skin type, sessions, preferences) is stored locally on your device. Soluvit does not collect or transmit personal data to external servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Permissions
- Location: Required for local UV index and weather data. Go to Settings > Soluvit > Location to manage.
- Health: Optional. Allows saving sun exposure and vitamin D data to Apple Health. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Soluvit to manage.
- Notifications: Optional. Used for UV alerts and session reminders. Go to Settings > Soluvit > Notifications to manage.
Troubleshooting
- UV data shows "---": Make sure location permission is granted and you have an internet connection. WeatherKit requires network access to fetch weather data.
- Widgets not updating: Widgets refresh on a system-managed schedule. Try removing and re-adding the widget. Make sure Soluvit has location access.
- Health data not saving: Check that HealthKit permissions are granted in Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Soluvit.
